What we can help with after hours
Our evening and weekend GPs can see you for the same problems as a weekday visit, including:
- colds, flu, chest and ear infections
- rashes, cuts and minor injuries (minor injury care)
- urine infections and other infections
- medical certificates
- repeat scripts and referrals
- mental health concerns
- children who are unwell (children’s health)
When the clinic is closed
- Emergency: call 000 or go to the Gympie Hospital emergency department.
- Health advice any time: call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) to speak with a registered nurse, 24 hours a day.
- Home visits after hours: a home doctor service may be able to visit you overnight. Ask reception for details.
- Telehealth: many follow-ups can be done by phone or video during our opening hours. See telehealth.
Common questions
Do I need an appointment in the evening?
No, but booking means you are seen at a set time. Walk-ins are seen when a GP is free.
Can I get a medical certificate on the weekend?
Yes. Our weekend GPs can provide a medical certificate if it is appropriate after seeing you.
Is the after-hours GP the same as an emergency department?
No. We see illnesses and injuries that need a GP. For chest pain, trouble breathing, serious injuries or anything life-threatening, call 000.
