Mental Health Support in Gympie - GP Mental Health Assessments, Treatment Plans and Psychologist Referrals in Gympie, QLD

Your mental health is every bit as important as your physical health – and at Gympie Day and Evening Clinic, we treat it that way. Our General Practitioners provide compassionate, confidential mental health support, from initial assessments and GP Mental Health Treatment Plans through to ongoing care, medication management, and referrals to psychologists and other mental health professionals.

We know that reaching out for mental health support is not always easy. Our doctors are trained to listen without judgement, take your concerns seriously, and work with you to find a path forward that is right for you – not a one-size-fits-all solution. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, or something you are still trying to put into words, you are welcome here. Through Medicare’s Better Access Scheme, eligible patients can access subsidised sessions with a psychologist – your GP can prepare the treatment plan that opens that door.

Why See Your GP for Mental Health Support?

  • A Safe Space to Talk
Our GPs provide a confidential, non-judgemental environment where you can speak openly about what you are going through. There is no pressure, no rush, and no judgement – just honest, compassionate care.

  • Access to Subsidised Psychology
Through the Better Access Scheme, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan that entitles you to up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions with a psychologist per calendar year – significantly reducing the cost of mental health care.

  • Holistic Care for the Whole Person
Mental and physical health are deeply connected. Our GPs consider both together, making sure that any physical factors contributing to your mental health are identified and addressed as part of your care.

  • Ongoing Support and Continuity
Mental health is rarely a one-appointment issue. We provide ongoing support, regular reviews, and adjustments to your care plan over time – so you always have a GP in your corner as things change.

  • Medication Management Where Appropriate
For patients for whom medication may be part of the treatment plan, our GPs can prescribe and monitor mental health medications with regular follow-up reviews to assess how you are responding.

  • Convenient Evening and Weekend Appointments
Open Monday to Friday until 9:00 pm and on weekends. Bulk billing available for eligible Medicare card holders for standard mental health consultations.
