Flu Vaccinations in Gympie - Annual Flu Shots, FluMist Nasal Spray for Kids, and Combined Flu and COVID Appointments in Gympie, QLD

Influenza is more than just a bad cold. Each year, flu season affects hundreds of thousands of Australians, leading to time off work, hospitalisations, and in some cases serious complications – particularly for young children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with chronic health conditions. At Gympie Day and Evening Clinic, we make it easy to get your annual flu vaccination and protect yourself, your family, and your community before flu season peaks.

From 2026, all Queenslanders can access a free influenza vaccination regardless of age or Medicare card status – so there is no reason to put it off. Our clinic offers flu shots for adults and children, including the FluMist needle-free nasal spray for eligible children aged 2 to 17 years. We also offer combined flu and COVID-19 vaccination appointments, so you can get both done in a single visit. Book your appointment from April onwards to ensure you are protected before the peak flu season of June to September.

When Is the Best Time to Get Your Flu Vaccine?

The best time to get your annual flu vaccine in Australia is from April onwards, before the peak flu season of June to September. Getting vaccinated in April or May gives your immune system time to build protection before flu activity increases. It takes approximately two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop full immunity.

Try not to leave it too late – if you wait until flu season is already underway, you may be unprotected during the most active weeks. Annual vaccination is important because the strains of influenza virus circulating each year are different, and last year’s vaccine may not fully protect you against this year’s strains.
